SANGUEM: Every household in the State will be provided with a tap and potable drinking water facility 24 hours of the day by end of 2024, informed PWD Minister Deepak Pauskar, on Friday.
Pauskar said, “All the ongoing projects including that of new 100 MLD project will be completed by end of 2022 to help solve the drinking water problems faced in many parts of the State.”

He was speaking at the inaugural function of the repaired water tank at Xelpem Water Treatment Plant, here, which was damaged during the last monsoon.
The PWD minister was accompanied by Sanguem MLA Prasad Gaonkar, former Sanguem MLA Subhash Phaldessai and others.
“Presently the existing pipelines supplying water in the State are subject to breakdowns and there is almost 40 per cent of water leakage affecting water supply to a great extent. However, once done with the completion of all pending projects including the Rs 34 crore JICA Project and a new 100 MLD project at Xelpem Water Treatment Plant, all the water woes in the State will be solved and people will be able to get 24 hours drinking water supply,” claimed Pauskar.
He also informed that the government is in the process of implementation of the National Jal Jivan Scheme devised by the Central government. Under the scheme all the households irrespective of financial status not having a tap connection will be provided a tap connection with potable drinking water supply.
On the occasion, the PWD minister also handed over appointment letters to around 60 contract labourers who were working at Xelpem Water Treatment Plant for last several years.
