Expelled MLA Rahul Mamkootathil arrested as third rape complaint surfaces

Rahul Mamkootathil, a Congress MLA from Kerala’s Palakkad who was expelled from the party following rape allegations, was arrested early Sunday. Police took him into custody around 12.30 am from the KPM Regency Hotel in Palakkad. He is expected to be produced before a magistrate shortly.

The arrest came after a third rape complaint was filed against Mamkootathil by a woman from Pathanamthitta, who is currently working in Canada. In her complaint, the woman accused the expelled MLA of brutal sexual assault, forced abortion, and financial exploitation.
