FDA destroys food items worth `10,000 in Canacona 

Canacona: FDA, continuing with its follow through for violations of food safety rules in Canacona and descended in Chaudi market on Tuesday and detected food items which were misbranded and had elapsed expiry date. The eatables worth over Rs 10,000 all from Suraj sweet mart were later destroyed by the FDA officials in the presence of police and members of NGO’s. 
Luck seems to be running out for Suraj sweet mart, a store which till recently was famous for manufacturing and selling high quality sweets, farsans and other food items in Canacona taluka. Once a popular shop for quality products is now headlining the news in recent times for either selling misbranded or spoilt food items.
