Vasco: A vigilant citizen who had come to the Vasco Airport has revealed how the ticketing agency at the airport entry has cheated him of the parking fee even after not exceeding the time limit. The Citizen has demanded an inquiry into the matter for the said act of the ticketing staff. Needless to tell, several thousands enter and exit Goa Airport and several have been apparently cheated for long time now.
The youth who was at the airport to drop some one finished on the stipulated time for free parking. When the youth made his way to the exit gate he was asked to pay money of exceeding the wait time. On checking the slip he realised that it was not his vehicle number but was some other number printed on the slip. When checked with the corresponding time he found that slip to be of some other vehicle and this was the method to charge the people.
The questions that are now raised are if the money is being charged, where is it going? Is there an audit of control on this illicit system?.
The questions that probably only the person in-charge can answer. As far as their reply was concerned it was certain that they would simplify and lie as a part of their clarification. The representative of the ticket booth who looked to be a supervisor of sorts said “See, its not that the machine will keep working all the time all the year. There is some error while keying the number in the Machine and we will rectify it soon” he said.
All this happened as the camera of the youth rolled and verified the sheer unprofessional ways the operation is being carried out. The youth claims that he has been charged money for no fault, it is an old slip which was used to prove that I exceeded time limit and extract money from me” he told. “I was here for not even a minute” said the youth.
The Member of Parliament Narendra Sawaikar while opining on this issue said that he is going to be have a word with the Airport Director and discuss the matter.
Whether this matter has cropped out of laziness of the staff or it has some monetary interests involved is what the agency head has to clarify. As soon as the alarm was raised on the exit gate the agency put their act together and gave genuine slips.
Some even got away without slips as they staff at the gate were busy on their cell phones. One of the Managers told the youth that there is a fault of the machine and he was informed just after he raise the issue.
The youth has gone on to demand removal of the non-Goan staff at the airport and recruit Goans to work here.
The Airport Director B.C.H. Negi has assured inquiry and swift action into the matter. However he has requested the aggrieved youth to send him all the details on his email ID [email protected] to enable him to take this action of there is a deliberate error. “There is a provision in the contract wherein if they are found in violation we can terminate their contract. We will take action after inquiring into the matter” Airport Director told.
