MARGAO: An FIR has been registered against Piedade Fernandes, the wife of Loutolim Sarpanch Inacinho, under Sections 504, 352, 506(II) and 427 of IPC, for damaging the car of Panch Maria Monteiro.
In a complaint filed on August 21, which was registered as an FIR, Maria Monteiro had alleged that Piedade had attacked her car with a two-inch thick wooden beam, due to which the vehicle was damaged and the windshield was completely shattered. The assault weapon has also been attached by police.
According to the complaint, the incident occurred when Maria along with the Sanitary Inspector of Loutolim PHC, Mrs Luela and the Medical Officer Dr Vignesh Gaonkar had visited a property bearing Survey No 330/1 which has illegal structures comprising of 25 rooms without any toilets. The Sarpanch Inacinho Fernandes, who Maria claims has allowed the structures to come up, was present at the site.
As they were inspecting, Piedade arrived at the site along with her son and started verbally abusing Maria with filthy language and then started assaulting her with the wooden beam. Even when the sanitary inspector intervened, the accused didn’t stop. The complainant then took shelter in her car, but the accused continued to abuse her and started hitting the car.
The incident has been recorded by the complainant on her mobile phone. She has submitted the video to the police. The Maina Curtorim Police Station confirmed that no FIR has been registered against Maria Monteiro by the sarpanch’s wife.
