PANJIM: Calangute MLA Michael Lobo has denied allegations of being mute witness to forged NOCs, claiming the cases are a deliberate attempt to tarnish his image as social worker and politician. At a press briefing held in the capital on Saturday, he accused former Congress MLA Agnelo Fernandes of instigating the people to lodge complaints against him.
“Agnelo is taking things very personally. The FIRs registered against me are instigated by him. I have been into social work and when we stand for someone, the opposition files a police complaint,” he said conceding having criminal cases against him from 2012 till date.
The MLA also claimed that he had obtained all the permissions to start the project, inspite of which a case was filed in 2009. “I had met Kartik Kashyap (Crime Branch SP) to expedite investigation into the seven-year-old case, because it is hanging on my head since long,” he said adding the letters granting NOC from GCZMA were not out warded in the register.
