PANJIM: A delegation led by Dr Samir Kelekar, fighting for justice for late Fr Bismarque Dias, has demanded registration of an FIR by Crime Branch in the priest’s mysterious death.
Speaking to the media, Kelekar alleged there are variations in the two autopsy reports and the expert opinion, as the experts have found gaps in the autopsy conducted by the GMC forensics team.
Kelekar said he has taken a second opinion on the autopsy report prepared by the GMC from a forensics doctor of a prominent hospital, who heads the forensics department.
Without disclosing the name of the institute or the doctor, Kelekar said that the doctor is ready to give his opinion in any court on the gaps in the autopsy reports.
Kelekar said he has sent all the reports of inquest panchanama, autopsy, diatom test and video recording of the inquest as well as post-mortems to the doctor who has finally come to the conclusion which creates enough doubt over the autopsy reports.
“We have sent the expert analysis over the GMC autopsy report to the Crime Branch of Friday for their reference and we demand that now at least they should register the FIR and investigate the case,” Kelekar told media in Panjim. He said they are conducting an independent and private inquiry in the death.
Bismarque’s body was found on November 7, 2015 in River Mandovi at St Estevam after he went missing on November 5. It’s been four months that the body is preserved in the GMC morgue. Family members have not claimed the body demanding a thorough investigation in the case.
Crime Branch, which was investigating into the case, concluded the inquiry and sent the report to SDM to finalise it. Crime Branch has said death was due to drowning.
