In what could be a fillip to the State forestry, the Central Government has upgraded the forest cadre postings for Goa and enhancing the number of posts as well.
An Additional Principal Chief Conservator of Forests (APCCF) and a team of 11 officials will now lead the State forestry. Presently a Chief Conservator of Forest (CCF) and a team of eight officials lead the State forestry.
In a notification published in February this year, the Goa forestry will now have two Conservators of Forests (CFs) as against one and eight Deputy Chief Conservators (DCFs) as against seven.
What is interesting is that the Wildlife division has been bifurcated into district wise divisions for the North and South of Goa. Herald learns that Goa has requested for a review and for upgradation of the cadre, which has been complied with by the Central Ministry while reviewing the entire AGMUT (Arunachal Pradesh, Goa, Madhya Mizoram and Union Territories) segment.
