CALANGUTE: In a letter to Chief Secretary, Goa State Pollution Control Board, Health Department, North Goa Planning and Development Authority (NGPDA), Calangute Panchayat and other concerned authorities, the Calangute Constituency Forum has demanded that the operations of a hotel in Agarwado, Calangute be stopped for releasing sewage into an open space.

The Forum claimed that locals have shot a video of the hotel releasing sewage during the wee hours.
It alleged the said developer has not left any setback from the centre of the main road due to which it looks like concerned authorities have turned a blind eye with regards to granting technical clearances for the project having five floors with 61 rooms.
The Forum informed that several cases of dengue and malaria have been reported in the surrounding area.
It demanded that the concerned authorities conduct a site inspection.
Alleging that there is possibility that the developer has taken permissions illegally, the Forum called upon the authorities to verify the project plan and alleged that the upper two floors are illegal.
It demanded that the pollution control board and health department conduct a site inspection with regards to release of sewage into an open space which has caused unhygienic conditions and shut the hotel operations immediately till the developer complies with proper sewerage treatment within the premises.
