CANACONA: Four BJP candidates have filed their nomination papers to both ZP seats in Canacona taluka since Monday.
According to sources, BJP candidate and sitting ZP (Khola) Krishna Velip submitted his nomination papers to Returning Officer and Deputy Collector Sudhim Natu in the presence of Sports Minister Ramesh Tawadkar on Monday.
Later, Dr Puspa Aiyar, BJP nominee for Poinguinim ZP, submitted her papers to the returning officer.
Two nominations were received on the first day of filing nominations, while two nominations were filed on Tuesday.
Tawadkar and the candidates along with BJP Canacona Block President Mahesh Naik, Mahila president and other party supporters including State level secretary Sarvanand Bhagat and Arun Bhat were present.
Even though there is no clarity from other candidates, it is learnt that two siblings (brother and sister) of a former minister from Canacona are likely to contest Khola and Poinguinim ZP seats as independents..
