Fraud Accused Threatens Canacona Woman With Criminal Case After Cheating Her of ₹1.74 Lakh

In a shocking case of online fraud, a man accused of cheating a woman from Maxem-Loliem of ₹1.74 lakh allegedly went a step further by threatening to initiate criminal proceedings against her when she confronted him about the scam.

According to police, the incident was reported at the Canacona Police Station after the victim realised she had been duped and demanded her money back. Instead of returning the amount, the accused allegedly attempted to intimidate her, warning that he would file a criminal complaint against her.

As per the complaint, the woman was induced to invest money after being promised attractive returns. Trusting the assurance, she transferred a total amount of ₹1,74,000 on different occasions through Google Pay to the accused’s mobile number.

Police have registered a case and initiated an investigation to trace the accused and verify transaction details. Further action will be taken based on the findings of the probe.
