Subhash Velingkar has sparked fresh political debate in Goa after making serious allegations against the BJP and late former Chief Minister Manohar Parrikar during a Marathi Rajbhasha Samiti meeting in Panaji.
Addressing the gathering, Velingkar alleged that during Parrikar’s leadership, the BJP had fielded six candidates under what he termed “collusive circumstances.” According to him, these individuals allegedly did not have any strong ideological connection with the party but were still given tickets for political reasons.

Velingkar further claimed that the BJP government at the time had drifted away from its original ideological principles. He alleged that instead of following its traditional political ideology, the administration functioned according to what he described as a “Church agenda.”
His remarks have once again triggered discussion around Goa’s political history and the functioning of the BJP during Parrikar’s tenure. The comments are likely to draw strong reactions from BJP leaders and supporters, especially considering Parrikar continues to remain one of Goa’s most respected political figures even after his passing.
The statements were made during a public meeting linked to language and cultural discussions organised by the Marathi Rajbhasha Samiti in Panaji. Clips and reports from the event have since started circulating widely on social media platforms, attracting both criticism and support.
While BJP leaders are yet to officially respond to the allegations, Velingkar’s remarks have already added fresh fuel to Goa’s political discourse.
