Garbage dumped along Merces bypass road raises a stink

PANJIM: The bypass road has turned into a nightmare for residents of Merces due to the dumping and accumulation of garbage along the route. This problem is particularly severe below the 37th National Games Billboard where lot of garbage has been dumped.

Despite the Merces Village Panchayat collecting door-to-door garbage by charging taxes, stinking waste has been dumped by the highway. Residents have voiced their dissatisfaction with the current state of affairs and have urged the panchayat to take action and ensure proper disposal of the waste.

During a panchayat meeting, residents presented their grievances and requested the installation of CCTVs cameras to monitor the area, but this measure has not yet been implemented. It is likely that the garbage has been dumped by passing motorists. Therefore the installation of CCTV camera may be essential.
