CALANGUTE: Chief Minister Manohar Parrikar on Sunday assured to set up garbage treatment plants in North and South Goa immediately to take care of the garbage menace in the State.
Parrikar was speaking after inaugurating the sub-division IV office of Electricity Department at Calangute. Power Minister Milind Naik, Tourism Minister Dilip Parulekar, Calangute MLA Michael Lobo, St Alex Church, Calangute, Parish Priest Fr Cipriano D’Silva, Calangute Sarpanch Geeta L Parab, Lyndon Monteiro, Joseph Sequeira, panchas and villagers were present on the occasion.
Parrikar assured to set up garbage treatment plants in North and South Goa immediately to take care of the garbage menace in Goa.
“I will try and resolve electricity failures in Calangute constituency within six months and there should be no frequent power failures. To put everything in place, we need time and money which we are doing with great efforts and people should appreciate and give us time,” said Parrikar.
Speaking on the occasion, Power Minister Milind Naik said the newly renovated office is one of the best offices among the cities of Mapusa, Panjim, etc.
“Our government and especially through the initiatives of Calangute MLA Lobo has taken up various infrastructure projects which will be a reality soon,” said Naik and assured to look into the demand of 33 KVA station to meet the demands of the villagers and consumers of Calangute constituency.
Lobo said there is no politics in shifting the office from Candolim, but the premises presently in possession of the Electricity Department were sought by the Primary Health Centre.
“We therefore suggested the chief minister to shift the sub-station at Calangute, which will provide better facilities for the consumers and office staff.”
Tourism Minister Parulekar, Sarpanch Parab and Fr D’Silva also spoke on the occasion.
Earlier, Joseph Sequeira welcomed the chief minister and other dignitaries, Vinayak Salgaonkar compered the programme, while Parsekar proposed the vote of thanks.
