PANJIM: The Goa Bachao Abhiyan, which spearheaded the agitation against Regional Plan 2021 (RP21), has urged the government to set up a special committee to frame guidelines for making necessary corrections in the land utilization plan, before going ahead with its implementation.
GBA members, on Monday, held a meeting with Deputy Chief Minister and Town and Country Planning Minister Francis D’Souza, wherein it was decided to have a series of structured meetings between the representatives of concerned governments departments (TCP, Revenue, Panchayats, Forest and Agriculture), village committees and other stakeholders for finalizing the modalities for the implementation of the plan. The meetings will begin from January 2015.
GBA convener Dr Sabina Martins said that the meeting with the Deputy Chief Minister was very fruitful and they suggested that proper guidelines be framed and be uniformly applied to all. “We have proposed setting up of a committee with representatives of all stakeholders, including village panchayats, town planners and others to frame the guidelines for the corrections to be made in the land utilization plan for each village and town, as shown in the RP21 after ground verification,” Dr Martins said.
