Girl shooting case: Cops confident of breakthrough

The police has said that investigation into the Cuncolim girl shooting case is progressing in the right direction and exuded confidence of achieving a breakthrough soon.
South Goa Superintendent of Police, Allan De Sa said that the police have got a vital clue in the case and are working on the lead collected by the specially constituted police teams.
He said the police are investigating into two aspects, one the possible enmity on family matters and the victim’s enmity with her friends. “During investigations, we have come to know that she had a friend in Agassaim and was staying there. A police team was dispatched to Agassaim. The police has also summoned her friend from Calangute as part of the investigations”, SP, De Sa said, adding that the police are analyzing the report collected by the team which was sent to Pernem last night.
Expressing confidence that the police would detect the case at the earliest, he said the police has completed the preliminary work of ascertaining and analyzing the facts that could give vital clues in the detection of the crime.
When asked whether the assailant could have been contracted to execute the killing, the SP said the background of the accused would be known only after the all the possible angles are probed into by the police.
The deceased girl, Wilma Colaco was shot dead point blank on her chest in the balcony of her house on Tuesday evening by an unknown assailant.
Cuncolim police said they interrogated the girl’s friend from Agassaim, while interrogation of the friend from Calangute was in progress late Wednesday evening at the police station.
