Margao: The movement Goyant Kollso Naka (GKN) has condemned the statements made by former BJP MLA, Sidharth Kuncalienker, in support of the 3 projects through Mollem Sanctuary. GKN added that these comments are unfounded, irrational and misleading statements, which reveal complete bankruptcy of reasoning and loyalty towards the State.

With regards to the double tracking of the Vasco-Castlerock railway line and the 4-laning of the Mollem NH-4A Highway, GKN questionied whether does the word ‘development’ mean the profits of a few corporations handling coal, for the ruling political party? But, the cat is out of the bag now. Goans know the purpose of the double tracking and the NH4A expansion is coal transportation for private profits, since we have seen the connections with the Sagarmala programme, MPT’s Master Plan, National Waterways Act, RP 2021 and Inland Waterways Authority Act. We know the devastating impact the double tracking and highway expansion will have on Goa, destroying all remaining vestiges of our economy, environment and society” said GKN.
“We strongly condemn the attempts by Kuncalienker to justify the coal infrastructure projects falsely claiming that (i) they are necessary for future development of the State; (ii) that only existing infrastructure is being upgraded; and (iii) that these are “well-studied” projects. These projects are clearly and squarely anti-people, anti-development and anti-humanity, threatening the survival of our future generations” GKN added.
