PANJIM: Police Inspector Sachin Lokre has been awarded the Union Home Minister’s Medal for excellence in investigation. Goa Police took to Twitter to congratulate the officer.

The PI had investigated the sensational double murder case in 2013 wherein two infants were rescued by a local and handed over to the Collem Police for further action.
The murder was that of a husband-wife wherein the accused had even attempted to kill their two children, by throwing them from the cliff at Anmod Ghat. They were rescued by a local who was returning from Karnataka and were handed over to Collem Police. Lokre had investigated the case that saw conviction of the two accused Osban Fernandes and Ramesh Bagve. The High Court recently upheld their life imprisonment.
