PONDA: Goa Mining People’s Front (GMPF) President Puti Gaonkar said it was three months now since the mining closure order on February 7 by Supreme Court but the government had failed to find any solution to restart mining.
Addressing media on Wednesday he said, as decided by GMPF after holding several awareness meetings, the final meeting to restart major action plan on mining would be taken at the public meeting at Gomantak Vidyalay High school ground at Tisk Usgao on June 1 at 4 pm.
He said it was a question of livelihood of about three lakh mining dependents and there was no solution yet and added that June 1 date was fixed because mines dependent were promised by Cabinet Approval Committee (CAC) that some solution would be found and were asked to wait till May end. “It’s almost more than three month but CAC member PWD Minister Sudin Dhavalikar and Vijai Sardesai have not found any solution,” he said.
Gaonkar said GMPF had invited all 40 MLAs and three MPs to attend and address the meeting, where at least 10,000 mining dependent would be present and added that Pratapsing Rane had also assured his support.
