Goan athletes delivered an impressive all-round performance at the prestigious ASMITA Pencak Silat League held in Daman on February 24 and 25, 2025, clinching seven medals and securing third place overall in the Junior category.
A contingent of 27 athletes from Goa competed across 35 event categories at the national-level championship, showcasing discipline, determination and technical excellence in both individual and team events.

Seven-Medal Haul for Goa
The Goan team secured a total of one silver and six bronze medals during the tournament.
Falaknaaz Sayad stood out with a stellar performance in the Junior (-63 kg) category, winning the silver medal.
Bronze medals were claimed by:
- Sachi Joshi (Sub Junior -60 kg)
- Madhu Chauhan (Senior -50 kg and Senior Solo)
- Parmesh Chauhan (Senior -55 kg)
- Chrissie Fernandes (Junior Solo and Junior Tunggal)
The consistent podium finishes across weight and performance categories highlighted Goa’s growing strength in Pencak Silat at the national level.
Third Place in Junior Category
In addition to the individual accolades, Team Goa secured third place overall in the Junior category, bringing home a trophy for the state. The achievement marks a significant milestone for Goa’s Pencak Silat community and reflects the steady progress of the sport in the region.
The team’s success has been attributed to the leadership of Anthony Cedly Braganza, Head Coach and General Secretary of the Pencak Silat Association of Goa (PSAG). The athletes were also guided by coach Nilufer Khan, with Joaquim Antonio Da Silva serving as team manager.
Congratulations have been pouring in for the medal winners and the entire contingent for making Goa proud on the national stage and reinforcing the state’s presence in competitive martial arts.
