Goa Chief Minister Pramod Sawant has said that wellness will emerge as a distinct sector within tourism in the coming years, expanding beyond the confines of five-star establishments.
He noted that businesses such as old-age homes and wellness centres are gaining prominence, while the healthcare sector is also witnessing steady growth. According to the Chief Minister, such initiatives have already begun taking shape in Goa, with participation from investors outside the state.

However, Sawant emphasised that local professionals should take the lead, urging Goan doctors to actively participate in the sector’s development. He highlighted that the Economic Development Corporation (EDC) is ready to extend financial support through major loans.
Additionally, training programmes will be conducted in Panaji, including a 15-day free course at Administrative Development Institute, aimed at equipping individuals with the skills needed to tap into the growing wellness and healthcare industries.
The initiative is expected to boost employment opportunities and position Goa as a key destination for wellness tourism.
