Verna police claimed it was not intimated about the raid undertaken by the Andhra Pradesh police at Sancoale Industrial Estate on Thursday evening.
Police officials claimed that when interstate police teams visit the State for any official work, they should inform the local police station before initiating any action.
“The Andhra Pradesh police failed to inform the Verna police before conducting the raid. We received calls about the raid being conducted at an industry in Verna, but we are unable to give any information as we were not aware of the raid,” said a Verna policeman on duty on Thursday evening.
When contacted Verna Police Inspector Uday Parab claimed that the Andhra Pradesh police was expected to intimate his police station about the raid at a factory in his police jurisdiction.
“We were not aware about the raid and I came to know about it only after reading the Herald newspaper on Friday.. Even if they have to take assistance of the state excise department, the AP police should have informed us about the raid so that we could have provided our police force to avoid any law and order situation.”
