Goa Declares Statewide School Holiday on July 4 Due to IMD Heavy Rainfall Alert

The Directorate of Education, Goa, has declared a holiday for all schools across the State on Friday, July 4, 2025, in light of a forecast of heavy to extremely heavy rainfall issued by the India Meteorological Department (IMD).

A circular issued by the Directorate stated, “In view of the incessant rain and the alert issued by the Indian Meteorological Department, Goa Centre, predicting heavy to extremely heavy rainfall across the State of Goa, and keeping in mind the safety of young children in schools, the competent authority has decided to declare a holiday on Friday, 4th July 2025, for all schools in the State of Goa.”

The circular further clarified that the holiday applies to both students and teachers. However, teachers who are deputed for training must report for their scheduled training sessions.

Students have been advised to stay indoors and avoid venturing into risky areas such as flooded streets, riversides, and other potentially hazardous locations.
