Panaji, Goa: Chief Minister Dr. Pramod Sawant has said that Goa has successfully implemented the National Education Policy (NEP) and is now developing five new colleges with a long-term vision of strengthening higher education for the next 50 years.
Speaking at an official event, the Chief Minister said the upcoming institutions will cater to emerging academic and professional fields, with a focus on law, forensic science, skill-based education, digital learning, and experiential education. He added that the initiative aims to equip students with future-ready skills while enhancing the state’s higher education ecosystem.

Dr. Sawant also announced that the construction of the Patradevi Martyrs’ Memorial has been completed and that its inauguration will take place in the coming days.
The memorial has been built to honour the martyrs who laid down their lives during Goa’s liberation movement and will stand as a lasting tribute to their courage, sacrifice, and invaluable contribution to the state’s freedom. The Chief Minister said the monument will inspire future generations to remember and appreciate the sacrifices made for Goa’s liberation.
The announcements underscore the government’s focus on advancing education while preserving the historical legacy of Goa’s freedom fighters through meaningful public memorials.
