Mopa Airport Police have arrested a 25-year-old Afghanistan national for allegedly entering India without valid travel documents and fraudulently obtaining an Indian passport using forged identity documents.
The accused, identified as Pritash Singh alias Kashish Singh, was intercepted at Manohar International Airport (Mopa) during police action and was subsequently taken into custody.
According to police, the accused is alleged to have illegally entered India without possessing valid documents and later assumed a false identity to secure an Indian passport by submitting fabricated identity records to the authorities.
Investigators suspect that the fake passport was obtained through fraudulent means by misrepresenting personal details and using forged documents during the application process.
The accused is presently in police custody, and further investigation is underway to ascertain the origin of the forged documents and whether a larger network was involved in facilitating the alleged identity fraud and illegal documentation.
Police are also probing the possibility of additional offences linked to the procurement and use of the fake Indian passport.
