According to a statement issued by the Superintendent of Police, South Goa, the Sub-Divisional Police Officer (SDPO), Ponda, has been directed to conduct a preliminary investigation and submit a detailed report within two days.
The police have stated that appropriate departmental action will be initiated against any personnel of the Collem Police Station found guilty of misconduct following the inquiry.
The move comes after allegations surfaced on social media claiming that police personnel were illegally collecting money from members of the public. Authorities have assured that the matter will be investigated impartially and that strict action will be taken against any erring officials in accordance with departmental rules.
The inquiry report is expected to determine the veracity of the allegations and recommend further action based on its findings.
