Taxi associations across Goa have strongly denied claims made by Transport Minister Mauvin Godinho that taxi operators nearly got into a fight during a recent meeting on the app-based taxi issue.
Responding to the minister’s remarks in the Assembly, representatives of several taxi unions said the allegation is completely false and misleading. They clarified that the meeting involved discussions and differences of opinion, but no physical altercation or attempt to fight took place.

Taxi leaders expressed concern that such statements could damage the reputation of taxi operators in the state. According to them, the community has been engaging in discussions with the government regarding the proposed digital taxi system and other industry concerns in a peaceful and respectful manner.
The associations have now demanded that the minister apologise to all taxi unions for the statement. They have also asked him to clarify what specific incident he was referring to while making the claim in the Assembly.
