Goa Tragedy Deepens: Teen Girl Dies After Attempting to Save Brother from Drowning in Cananguinim

A tragic drowning incident in South Goa has claimed a second life, as a teenage girl succumbed after attempting to rescue her younger brother from a rivulet in Cananguinim.

The incident, initially reported on Sunday, involved an 8-year-old boy who drowned while playing in the water. In a brave attempt to save him, his elder sister entered the rivulet but also got into distress.

The girl was rescued and admitted to Goa Medical College for treatment. Despite medical efforts, she later passed away, turning the incident into a double tragedy.

Both siblings were residents of Curchorem and had visited the location along with family members when the mishap occurred.

Police have taken note of the development and stated that further inquiry into the circumstances surrounding the incident is underway.
