Barely days after receiving the Padma Shri, renowned neonatologist of Goan origin Dr Armida Fernandez has added another prestigious honour to her name, as she and senior surgical oncologist Dr Luzito D’Souza were conferred Papal Medals by the Archdiocese of Bombay in Mumbai.
Dr Fernandez and Dr D’Souza, both of Goan origin, were among three distinguished individuals honoured with the Papal Medal in recognition of their lifelong and exceptional service in the fields of healthcare, social welfare and community leadership. Dr D’Souza is also a former Padma Shri awardee, widely respected for his contribution to surgical oncology and medical education.
