OLD GOA: St Francis Xavier (SFX) is known as one of the most powerful intercessors of the Catholic faith. Not only did he perform miracles after his death, which led to his sainthood and thereafter, but he also performed miracles in his lifetime, due to his deep devotion to God. Many people have deep faith and have received miracles from St Francis Xavier in Goa too.

SFX is known by the people as the Protector of Goa or Goencho Saib. People recall that Goa has been spared from all major storms, earthquakes and even tsunamis and attribute the same to the miraculous presence of Goencho Saib who instructed that after his death his body be brought to Goa.
