PANJIM: A day after the Principal District and Sessions Court at Panjim denied anticipatory bail to Wilson Godinho in the Merces panch Prakash Naik suicide case, Godinho on Friday moved the High Court of Bombay at Goa seeking anticipatory bail and challenging the Session Court’s order denying him the relief.
Outlining the reason for denying anticipatory bail to Godinho, Principal Sessions Judge Irshad Agha, in his 19-page order, pointed out that Merces panch Prakash Naik was harassed. “In this (suicide) note he clearly mentions that he is tired of everything in his life because of the applicant and Tahir and the reason of tiredness is harassment given to him. The words carry wide meaning because he further states that he has no further option other than to commit suicide,” the order states.
The Judge further said, “He also uses the word pressure and says that he cannot handle the pressure and therefore committing suicide. He specifically pointed out to the applicant which says that this person should be responsible for his death.”
The prosecution, during the arguments on the anticipatory bail plea, had produced the WhatsApp message, while Godinho’s lawyer Rohit D’Sa had denied charges and said that Godinho had voluntarily visited the police station requesting to record his statement after the WhatsApp message had gone viral.
