MARGAO: Gomant Vidya Niketan, Margao, has announced the organisation of its 25th edition of the ‘Vicharvedh Lecture Series’ from January 8 to 12.

Anand Masur shared that the series will begin on January 8 with the Datta Govind Pai Raiturkar Lecture, where Piyush Tewari will speak on the topic “Driving Change: How Young Leaders Can End the Road Crash Epidemic.” Tewari, a prominent Indian social activist, is known for his work in the field of road safety.
On January 9, the Srinivas Nayak Memorial Lecture will feature Chinmayi Sumit, a Marathi actress and advocate for the preservation of Marathi schools, women’s empowerment, and environmental protection. She will address the topic “Mother Language and Education – The Pillars of Culture.”
The Dattatreya N Hemadi Memorial Lecture on January 10 will be delivered by Ranmanus Prasad Gawade, who will discuss “Economics of Happiness.” Gawade has worked extensively in the Konkan region, linking rural lifestyles with tourism, and has contributed to redefining local economic practices.
On January 11, Manasi Prasad, a renowned Karnataka-based classical singer, will present the Damodar Krishna Verlekar Lecture on the subject “Keeping it Classical: The Relevance of Music in Our Time.” She will explore the significance of preserving traditional music while adapting to contemporary music trends.
The series will conclude on January 12 with Shrigauri Sawant, a social activist and advocate for transgender rights, who will speak on “Me and My Journey.” Sawant has dedicated her life to working with transgender individuals and women involved in prostitution, focusing on skill development and livelihood opportunities for marginalized communities.
All lectures will take place at 6 pm at the Gomant Vidya Niketan Auditorium. Each lecture is expected to last between 45 and 60 minutes. This year’s series will feature three lectures in Marathi and two in English.
The 25th edition of the Vicharvedh Lecture Series, organized by Gomant Vidya Niketan, continues its tradition of hosting prominent personalities from diverse fields. Previous editions have seen the participation of several distinguished speakers.
