PANJIM: The Vikas Parishad-led Mandre College of Commerce, Economics and Management is in trouble again, this time after the Secretary Higher Education served a notice on the institution asking to show cause why approval on grant in basis granted by the government on July 17, 2012 should not be cancelled or withdrawn.
The notice has been issued in spite of the High Court of Bombay at Goa having in a writ petition quashed the withdrawal of approval by the government and upheld the earlier approval.
“Shocked to receive notice from Secretary Higher Education asking me to show cause why approval on grant in basis granted by Manohar Parrikar government on July 17, 2012 to Mandre College should not be withdrawn and cancelled in spite of the fact that Bombay High Court has in Writ Petition No 2017 quashing the withdrawal of approval dated 26th June 2013 by the same government headed by Parrikar and upheld approval dated July 17, 2012,” Parishad Chairman, Ramakant Khalap said.
“The Secretary Higher Education has relied on the same old noting of Finance Secretary, Michael D’Souza which falsely and maliciously claims that Mandre College is less than 7 kms from Government College at Virnoda Pernem (although the distance is 23 kms),” Khalap alleged.
