PANJIM: The BJP led government in the State has spent a whopping Rs 800 crore on its flagship schemes — Griha Adhar and Laadli Laxmi — in last four years.
With the 2017 State Assembly elections scheduled early next year, the ruling party on Sunday launched a state wide ‘Ghar-Ghar-chalo Abhiyan’ (door to door campaign) highlighting party’s achievements in the past four years.
In a pamphlet distributed in each household, the party has mentioned that during last four years, government has distributed Rs 373 crore under Griha Adhar scheme, wherein Rs 1,200 monthly allowance is given to housewives. As many as 1.39 lakh housewives benefitted from the scheme. The government now intends to increase the monthly allowance to Rs 1,500.
Under the Laadli Laxmi scheme, which aims at providing Rs 1 lakh financial assistance for education and marriage to girls, the government disbursed Rs 400 crore among 40,000 girls.
Then Manohar Parrikar-led government was sworn in on November 9, 2012 after the party swept the Assembly elections that year.
The saffron party has claimed that 1.35 lakh people have benefitted under Dayanand Social Security Scheme (DSSS).
BJP has stated that 8400 families affected due to closure of mining activity were distributed Rs 137 crore since September 2015. “Government earned Rs 816 crore from e-auction of 70 lakh tonnes of ore; besides, Rs 107 crore in the form of royalty on it,” the party has said.
Party President Vinay Tendulkar said that government has fulfilled 85 percent of its election promises, with another eight to nine months still in hand before the next election in 2017.
“There are still some promises left unfulfilled such as regularization of houses, unemployment allowance, shifting of casinos and special status,” he admitted.
