Govt to sign MPDA with Vedanta Goa

Chief Minister Pramod Sawant outlines plans for 'Panchayat Chalo Abhiyan' and updates on welfare initiatives

PANJIM: Chief Minister Pramod Sawant, on Friday, said that the State government will sign the first Mine Development Production Agreement (MDPA) and Mining Lease Deed approval document with Vedanta Limited Goa, for the Bicholim Mineral Block.

The company, which had won the e-auction for the block had already obtained Environment Clearance (EC), the Chief Minister said, after chairing the Cabinet meeting.

The Chief Minister said that the government will organise ‘Panchayat Chalo Abhiyan’ across the State under ‘Viksit Bharat Viksit Goa’, to mark the completion of his government’s five years in office on March 19, this year.

Every Cabinet Minister will visit one village panchayat on one day, Sawant said, adding that 12 Ministers will cover 12 talukas. Every Minister and MLA will spend a day in a village in their respective constituencies. The government will organise several welfare activities for the masses, he added.

Sawant said Swayampurna Goa 2.0 review programmes will be held on March 2 at every village panchayat level and Swayampurna Mitras will be present in panchayats to take the review.

The Chief Minister also announced that 40 part-time staff working in ESI Hospital, Margao have been brought under contract.

A demand to regularise the services of staff working in the ESI Hospital was made by Margao MLA Digambar Kamat in the recently concluded brief budget session of Goa Assembly.
