Captain of Ports, Captain James Braganza, under whose supervision, the project will roll out through the Department of River Navigation, said that there was no question of going against the wishes of the people.
“The consultants Master & Associates, who are providing a techno feasibility report, have identified seven or eight places and they have also completed power-point presentation to the locals at 5 or 6 places and so far it has gone well,” Capt Braganza told Herald.
He said that only one village of Agarwado has an issue and that is being sorted out by clearing their doubts.
“A meeting is slated on Monday and the consultants will solve any issue if it persists,” he said.
The Captain further said, “If people don’t want it, we will not go ahead with it, as simple as that. The government will not go against the wishes of the people.”
He said that they have made it clear to the consultants that developers have to be warned that the CRZ regulations will have to be respected while designing the project. Salt pans will not be disturbed and other provisions of the CRZ 2011 will have to be respected.
