PONDA: The locals of Bandora at the Sunday’s gram sabha passed resolution to save their village from destruction and strongly opposed several residential projects proposed in village which they alleged are levelling hills, cutting trees and destroying natural resources such as lakes, fields etc.
The locals claimed that hills are levelled for projects and demanded an immediate end to such activities. The gram sabha chaired by Sarpanch Ramchadra Naik resolved to write to PWD, Town and Country Planning and Electricity departments not to issue NOCs for residential projects unless necessary infrastructure is created and 24 hour water and power is supplied to village.
The members pointed out that they are already facing water shortage, insufficient power supply and if panchayat goes on allowing new residential projects it will create burden on infrastructure. The villagers demanded a master plan for village development and called for protecting hills and natural resources.
They said they are opposed to construction residential buildings and claimed that without creating infrastructure by allowing buildings is an injustice on them.The locals have also opposed to the Farmagudi Mega Project and demanded against issuing an NOC to it. The locals also passed resolution opposing the alleged plot development by a lady associated with a sanstha in a hilly area at Bokadbag, Bandora.
The Bokadbag Dhaza Samaj in a memorandum to panchayat has asked the local body not to issue NOC for plots, roads and other infrastructure works in Survey Nos from 48 to 53. Locals alleged that the landlords are selling their hilly and forest lands in the village and settling in towns. They are not bothered about destructions of village, lakes, fields and hills, which are levelled for residential projects.
The locals opposed vehicle parking along the roadside by the sanstha members at Ramnathi claiming that it is dangerous for pedestrians and other vehicles. They also demanded the removal of speed breakers along the road near the sanstha stating that it has become an accident prone zone.
The villagers claimed that a residential project with most of sanstha members residing at Wagdar Bandora had encroached upon a retaining wall of PWD and extended its height by constructing a compound wall which is obstructing the view of oncoming vehicles and the area has turned accident prone. The Sarpanch assured to conduct site inspection. The locals demanded that the panchayat clear all the choked gutters.
The Garbage Committee was also constituted and the panchayat it was decided to buy vehicles for lifting garbage as annual cost to hire rickshaw to clear garbage goes amounts to above Rs 5 lakh. The villagers demanded that the PWD should handover the football ground to panchayat and called for inspection of 33 kv high tension line passing over this ground. The locals also demanded the shifting of the proposed sewerage plant at Undir and informed that Deepak Pauskar has assured them to shift the project if panchayat shows alternative site for the same.
