GSCPCR seeks survey of parks for kids, elders

PANJIM: Taking serious cognizance of the dilapidated condition of parks for children and senior citizens,

Goa State Commission for Protection of Child Rights has asked the Directorates of Panchayats and Municipal Administration to conduct a survey of the parks and submit a report.
The commission has identified two parks in the capital – Caranzalem children’s park and senior citizens park at Campal – as the most neglected urging the local administration to take up upgradation work urgently.
“On receipt of reports and complaints from citizens, we have written to the two departments seeking a report based on the questionnaire raised by us about the condition of the parks in their respective jurisdiction. We are awaiting a reply,” the commission’s chairperson Dr Sushma Kirtani said.
The commission also moved the CCP for urgent repairs of the poor state of the Caranzalem and Campal parks.
“The senior citizens park has corroded and broken railings, posing a serious health hazard,” the commission noted alleging that government authorities have treated the issue casually.
