They manage homes and double up not just as wealth creators but entrepreneurs of opportunity. On International Women’s day VIKANT SAHAY met a group of eminent ladies at the Indian Women Network, Confederation of Indian Industry (CII) in Goa, who are leaving their inspiring imprint in the Goa corporate and business scene.

Andrea is Partner of the chain of supermarkets Magsons in Goa which has 12 outlets in the state. “I feel proud that we were the first to introduce Goa and Goans to the experience of supermarket shopping. After 25 years we feel proud that we have our presence across Goa with 12 outlets,” said Andrea.
But being a BSc, BEd graduate her first love is to educate children. So from organising summer camps to a three-day trips to Lonavla and visiting the naval base and organising trecks for children gives her immense satisfaction. In one such trip, children between the age group of 8-12 years were given an opportunity to enter a submarine. 
Andrea, for last ten years also has a franchisee for two ABACUS Academy in Goa for children for the age group 6 to 10 who are honing their skills in the “ever feared mathematics”. 
Proprietor of Anka Service, a PR company started her venture in 2003 as an advertising and space marketing firm for national publications which now is Goa’s leading marketing communications firm specialising in online and offline PR.
Parvish started Anka from small rented premises from Patto, with no staff and single handedly met customers as cold calling and speeding on a two wheeler in the lanes and bylanes of Goa. Today the company functions from spacious ownership office in Miramar with professional staff.  Anka has customers from Mumbai, Delhi, Pune, Hyderabad, Bangalore and all parts of Goa.  
Parvish is one of the founder members of the Goa Chamber of Commerce Women’s Wing, was sent by the Chamber of Commerce & Industry to Hyderabad in 2010 to represent the Goa Chamber Women’s Wing. 
In April 2012 Parvish was awarded the MBA certificate by “Goldman Sachs 10,000 Women Certificate of Leadership and Management”.
For last seven years Priya has been practicing as Periodontist and Oral Implantologist in her clinic “The Dentist” at Mapusa. She got married while she was doing her post graduation. So, it was like,starting a married life at the time of complition of her post graduation. 
When she started practicing soon after post graduation and since she was new to Goa there were a lot of things that she had to learn and adjusted to. She is originally from Mangalore. A different home, a different culture, a new language and a new life. 
Coming from a totally different background and starting something on her own was not easy, especially when one is newly married as there are expectations from the family and pressure from the work side. “All I had to do was balance life and move forward and that is what I did. I am a very positive person. So I try to make my contribution towards the society through my patients. I spend quite a lot of time talking to my patients and encourage them to move forward in life. 
Anagha of Aakar Interior Designers is a qualified civil engineeer who worked for a construction firm for four years, which specialised in Factory Design and Construction.
As her husband was an interior designer, she decided to take a course in interior design and joined him in the business.
Along with her husband she set up her business 20 years ago. During this time, she had the opportunity to work in a vast field of versatile projects and even wider plethora of individual client personalities and traits.
Twenty years ago, interior design was considered by most, as an unaffordable luxury.
Designers (and a woman at that) were not taken seriously. “They were thought of as whimsical and someone who is out to fleece you. People trusted their ‘family’ carpenter or painter more.People could not differentiate between a Decorator and a Designer,” said Anagha.
She realized early on that to begin a relationship with her client, she had to start by educating them about how an interior designer can actually uplift their life.
Born in Goa in a middle class business family, Khairoo is an advisor with the largest company in the world Life Insurance Corporation of India for more than 20 years and she is a Million Dollar Round Table Qualifier which takes her to which takes me to the USA or Canada every year.
Post a inter-religious marriage, she took up the agency for monetary reasons with the support of her husband Manosh. In the first year of business she was expected to do 12 policies and ultimately she ended up doing 165 policies in six months and also did the coveted one crore business. 
She has offices in Goa and has spread out to Pune and Mumbai as well. “I have also ventured into health insurance where in I have a record of 100% claim settlement with Max Bupa Health Insurance Co Ltd and I am their number one agent in Goa and we service 8500 clients,” said Khairoo. 
“I would be asked why do you need to work?  Why don’t you stay at home? Why don’t you stay at home? Why are u roaming in the sun?. These were some of the questions which I faced initially,” added Khairoo. 
Her firm employs women staff and supports them completely as she does not look at them as competitiors but feels that it is a team work. She is am also associated with Hamara School where she support children. She is also a member of BNI and Samrat Club, CII and GCCI. 
A teacher by profession, Sarojini is partner in Sun360 since September 2013 and has dedicated 33 years of her life in service of the community. She has a Masters in French and B.Ed in History, English and has served as a headmistress for eleven. She has headed various educational associations and spearheaded multiple social initiatives including the Prison Ministry, Ubuntu (learning through values) and the Inter-religious group of the Arch Diocese of Goa.
“With approximately have 16,000 sq ft of solar installations completed in Goa, Karnataka and Tamil Nadu, an energy saving of 8,75,000 units (KWh) per year that has translated into an average saving of 44 lakhs per year, Sun360 has managed to achieve a lot of reduction in carbon emissions with its efforts across projects. We currently provide direct and indirect employment to numerous youth through our in-house staff, contracting teams and channel partners. I believe sustainability of a business should reflect on the balance sheet as well as on its impact on environment,” said Sarojini.
As an ordinary woman, Veena has taken a huge leap from being a mere homemaker to a successful business woman, career oriented and has been running a beauty salon since  last two decades with special emphasis on various skin treatments and therapies for different skin types.
However, the journey specially in the initial stage was not without hurdles. Hard work and perseverance helped her to achieve her goal. “To get myself fully acquainted and trained to perfection I had undertaken specialized courses in reputed Institutes for which I had to travel to Bombay from time to time and to get myself fully trained in the field,” added Veena.
As she stepped into this career of making women look more beautiful, she is filled with a sense of accomplishment, specially due to the personalised service she renders to women, in various skin and beauty related therapies. She has also managed to educate them on how to care and keep their skin healthy and glowing.
