VASCO: The Goa State Urban Development Agency (GSUDA) on Wednesday presented a power point presentation to the Mormugao Municipal Councillors on the proposed fish market at Vasco.
During the presentation, GSUDA officials profiled other markets constructed by them in other parts of the State and later displayed the plan of the proposed new fish market at Vasco.
According to the plan, the proposed fish market would have basement parking while the ground floor would be occupied by fish vendors. The first floor is allotted for fruit vendors and the second floor will have parking space for vehicles along with a lift facility.
Vasco MLA and KTC Chairman Carlos Almeida said the work on the proposed new fish marked will start by August. “Before commencement of the work, I will also give a power point presentation to all stake holders and get their views on the proposed fish market,” Almeida said.
Almeida said GSUDA will install a lift to enable vehicles to reach the second floor. However councillors were sceptical about quality of construction, alleging that GSUDA is known to use substandard construction material.
The councillors felt that people would find it difficult to park their vehicles on the second floor and then go down to make purchases. They suggested that instead of a lift, the GSUDA should construct a ramp around the periphery of the building to felicitate parking on the second floor.
