MARGAO: The South Goa District Collectorate will be formally named after late Matanhy Saldanha on Goa Statehood Day, even as Deputy Chief Minister, Francis D’Souza on Wednesday said that the new Collectorate building is ready in all respects and the remaining offices can shift to the building by May 30.
After reviewing the progress of work of the new building with Collector N D Agrawal, the Dy CM who also holds the Revenue portfolio, said that all things are in place and the Collectorate building is finally ready.
“Offices of the BDO, Joint Director of Accounts, Deputy Director of Panchayats, Land Survey and Sub-Registrar can shift to the new building by May 30. Our place is ready these offices have to only shift now. They have to take the key and shift”, he said, while announcing that the government would officially name the district Collectorate building after late Matanhy Saldanha on May 30.
“The civil and electrical works are completed. Only the landscaping needs to be completed. The signages and parking slots should fall in place within the next one week”, he added.Replying to a question why the northern entrance gate is not opened visitors resulting in accidents on the southern side entrance, Collector said that the gate remained closed for want of security personnel.
The minister said that he has sanctioned around 40 security personnel, besides liftmen on contact basis.
He said the file for auctioning of the canteen also stands approved.
