PANJIM: Goa Tourism Development Corporation (GTDC) will begin executing projects identified under Swadesh Darshan scheme including those in the coastal belt of the State.
Speaking to reporters after the Board meeting, GTDC Chairman Nilesh Cabral informed that various projects will be taken up under the Centrally sponsored scheme.
In July 2017, the Union Tourism Ministry had allotted Rs 100 crore to Goa under the Swadesh Darshan scheme to augment its tourist infrastructure. The amount was approved under Phase-II for coastal circuit development in the State, which boost GTDC’s plans of improving tourism infrastructure across Goa.
The Scheme aims to fund projects that fall under the gamut of touristic potential due to its history, heritage, cultural importance as well as innovation. An initial allotment of Rs 100 crore under Phase-I was utilised for developing the coastal belt in North Goa.
