MARGAO: Goa Vikas Party Supremo Mickky Pacheco has said that his party will never compromise on the three seats of Nuvem, Benaulim and Cortalim in South Goa, making clear that the GVP had compromised on the Cortalim seat to the BJP in the by -polls because of the then prevailing political circumstances.
Capping speculations that he may shift to Cortalim in the next elections, Mickky said that he would contest the coming polls only from Nuvem, but asserted that the GVP will field its candidate for the Cortalim constituency. “I want to make clear that South Goa Zilla Chairperson Nelly Rodrigues will be GVP’s candidate for the Cortalim constituency in the next elections. She had lost the Cortalim polls by a small margin and Nelly would be GVP’s candidate again for the constituency,” he added.
Mickky said though the GVP has lost the Assembly polls in Cortalim, the party has not stopped carrying out works in the constituency. “We have continued our work in Cortalim post-2012 polls. I do not want to go into why the GVP had compromised the Cortalim seat to the BJP because of the then circumstances.
But henceforth we will not compromise on Cortalim or Benaulim no matter the game plan of the political parties,” he added.
