HC Issues Notice to Goa Govt Over PILs Challenging ‘Majhe Ghar’ Regularisation of Illegal Structures

The High Court has issued a notice to the Goa government in response to a series of Public Interest Litigations (PILs) filed by activist Kashinath Shetye, who has challenged the regularisation of alleged illegal structures on Communidade, government, and private lands under the Majhe Ghar housing scheme.

The petitions argue that the scheme is being misused to legitimise encroachments and constructions that violate land ownership and planning norms. After issuing the notice, the court adjourned the matter for further hearing on February 3, 2026.
