MARGAO: Health Minister Viswajit Rane has said that he wants the Cottage Hospital at Chicalim be managed by the Airport Authority of India (AAI) along with the State government.
He said that he wants to provide the best health care to the people of Goa while at the same time ensuring the availability of funds for them.
He appealed to Civil Aviation Minister to consider taking up the management of Chicalim hospital by the Civil Aviation Ministry through the Airport Authority of India along with the Government of Goa.
Asking Vishwajit to discuss the proposal with him in Delhi, Civil Aviation Minister Suresh Prabhu said he would consider it positively.
Speaking to media persons, Vishwajit said that he has to think out of the box to make the heath care run without being burdened about the finances and added that private public participation is one way of doing that.
Replying to a question, he said many facilities at the District Hospital coming up at Fatorda would also be out sources. “I shall take a call on that only after discussing it with Vijai Sardessai,” he said.
Meanwhile, Suresh Prabhu also agreed to Vijai’s request to digitize the records with the Archives Department which he said are slowly getting destroyed due to age. Pointing out that the Archives has the oldest records in Asia, he admitted that they cannot be protected or digitized by the State government.
