Former MLA and social activist Adv. Pratima Coutinho alleged that the BJP was engaging in “dirty politics” at the local body level, claiming that the move was politically motivated. She, along with opposition-elected members of the Davorlim Panchayat, strongly protested the decision and fought to have the elections officially postponed.
The situation remained charged as members demanded transparency and accountability regarding the sudden cancellation. The Panchayat authorities are expected to announce a new date for the elections soon.
