CHANDOR: Incessant rains and flooding of Kushawati River on Thursday disrupted normal life in Paroda, parts of Chandor and Gudi.
All traffic from Quepem to Margao was diverted via Chandor as Gudi section of the road was under water, leading to irritation among villagers who were subjected to noise the whole day.
The bridge leading to Immaculate Conception High School was flooded, leading the school management to declare a holiday.
Incidentally, Kushawati River has broken its banks after a period of three years and such an incident was observed in 2013. In fact, in 2012 then chief minister Manohar Parrikar along with the then MLA Subhash alias Rajan Naik had visited the bridge as it remained submerged for a few days.
Thursday night rains also caused some trees to fall in Guirdolim that snapped power lines, as fire department personnel were pressed into service to clear the lines and restore power supply.
