PANJIM: The High Court of Bombay at Goa adjourned the hearing into a matter pertaining to social activist Bismarque Dias’ suspicious death, to May 2 when the family will make its submission seeking various medical documents.
When the matter came up for hearing on Tuesday, the family, represented by the deceased’s bother Mario, sought to make a submission but the bench directed him to follow the procedure by first approaching the Registrar. The matter was thereafter adjourned to May 2.
The family, through a statement on Monday, had conveyed that they have decided to lay the body to rest.
“We have longed to receive Bismarque’s earthly remains and have a proper farewell… We may lay his earthly remains to rest but our fight for justice continues,” the deceased’s brother had said.
The family also decided to request the Court to direct the authorities to handover key documents that have still not been provided to them namely the daitom report, viscera analysis report, radiation report, autopsy 1185/2015 and autopsy 1122/2015.
The family expressed disappointment over the ‘government’s apathy’ with the probe but it has still pinned its hope that a thorough trial will give them justice.
