Hindu Man’s Six-Year Care for Elderly Catholic Resident Reflects Goa’s Spirit of Unity

At a time when religiously divisive statements are increasingly being heard across the country, Goa continues to stand out as a shining example of communal harmony, where people from different faiths continue to live together with mutual respect and compassion.

A touching example of this unity has emerged from Kakoda, where a Hindu man, Noubat Vaidya, has been selflessly caring for 95-year-old Lawrence Dsouza for the past six years.

Lawrence currently resides at Vaidya’s home in Kakoda, where Noubat personally looks after all his needs, including medicines, travel, and daily care, with complete dedication and compassion.

The humanitarian gesture has earned widespread appreciation from locals and is being hailed as a true reflection of Goa’s long-standing tradition of unity among Hindus, Muslims, and Catholics.

In another act highlighting his commitment, Noubat Vaidya reportedly took up the issue when Lawrence Dsouza’s name was removed from the voters’ list. Refusing to remain silent, he pursued the matter with the concerned authorities and successfully ensured that Lawrence’s name was restored.

Vaidya has stated that he will continue to care for Lawrence for as long as he remains with him, showcasing a bond that rises above religious identities and underscores the values of humanity and compassion.
