PANJIM: Goa Human Right Commission (GHRC) will now inspect the
unhealthy working and living conditions of the Policemen of two Police Stations
in the state.
GHRC while hearing the complaint filed by advocate
Aires Rodrigues directed the Secretary of the Commission to inspect and verify
the factual working and living conditions of the policemen at the Old Goa
Police Station in North Goa and Colva Police Station in South Goa.

The Secretary has been directed to carry out the
inspection within 15 days and submit a detailed report to the
Commission within 30 days.
A per complaint the policemen in the State were being
made to work very long hours amidst pathetic and very
appalling working conditions.
While disputing the stand taken by the DGP that all
amenities including canteen and recreational facilities were available at every
police station, Rodrigues informed the Commission that the reply filed by the
DGP does not depict the real and factual position regarding the working and
living conditions of the police personnel and sought that at least two police
stations, one in the North and one in the South be inspected to verify the
factual position.
Rodrigues in his complaint to the GHRC while alleging
that most policemen get a break only after many days of work has stated that
this has been taking a toll on their personal lives with
a spate of incidents that has exposed the stress related fragility
affecting the police force.
